This evening there was a very traumatic experience in our house. E's beloved and favorite water balloon popped in the bathtub.This is the story of the many tears shed....

Yesterday the primary had a water play day. I took the boys to it. E was having a blast until they busted out the water balloons. E has never seen one before so he thought it was the coolest thing ever. He had a big blue and it was his baby. He kissed it, hugged it, carried it like a little baby. Then came the monster. A teacher came over and tried to get him to pop it! He didn't really understand what she was trying to get him to do. He was on the grass so it just kept bouncing around. Then she told him to walk over to the pavement and to no avail still nothing. Then the teacher pretty much body slams the balloon. E's whole world just shattered.

He slumped over and fell onto the grass. From the cries, one might have thought he broke his arm or something. He was devastated. There was no explaining that that is what you do with water balloons. After many many MANY tears, someone found a few that they missed.

Well, he got another and no one was allowed to touch it. If I was allowed to hold it, I was told to use 2 hands. The thing was more precious than gold!

After we came home we put it ever so carefully in the tub so when he had bath time he would be reunited with the beloved.

Flash forward to tonight.

Hes having shower time with his balloon and I walk out to talk to Cris. Then the tears come, I thought he maybe fell, then come the second round of tears. Nope those were the tears of devastation. I said two words to Cris "the balloon".

We went in the bathroom and sure enough it had popped. He was bawling and holding the yellow remains of what was his water balloon. We tried to console him. After telling him we would make a special trip to the dollar store just to buy some he calmed down. And then daddy came to the rescue.

He surprised E with a zip-lock bag full of water. It was just as a good his old yellow balloon. He was in love. He held it so carefully and said "wooooow" He gave it kisses, made it feel special. He was so happy. His little life was complete again.

And so, tomorrow we will be making a special trip to the dollar store to stock up on water balloons.
